G2CS Summer Camp and Community

Are you in 7th or 8th grade? Do you love computers, technology, solving puzzles, and making friends? Ever think you might want to work in software or web site design, or invent technologies that could save a life? If so, consider joining Girls Gather for Computer Science. G2CS starts with a four-week-long day camp at Pacific University and lives on through ten years of support and community on the G2CS web site, at reunions, and more. Women working in the field of computer science designed G2CS for you. They have been where you are now and are excited to help a new set of girls have fun with computer science and realize their dreams. To check out details on the camp and see instructor bios, visit the camp section of the web site.

Cost & Schedule

THIS CAMP IS FREE! G2CS will pay for public transportation to and from Pacific University, meals, field trips, and an overnight stay in Seattle.

With the exception of the Seattle trip, G2CS is a day camp only. We'll meet June 17 to July 12 on weekdays from approximately 9:30am to approximately 3:30pm. You will be off on weekends and the 4th of July. Plan to attend all four weeks of camp and bring your parents to two evening events.

After Camp is Over

It might be hard to say goodbye, but G2CS doesn't end when the camp is over. You will be an active, important member of a community of students, scientists, parents, and teachers who communicate via the G2CS web site and meet at reunions. The CS experts you come to know through the summer camp will stay in touch and mentor you as you advance to high school, college, and to your ultimate career.

Eligibility

If you will have completed 7th or 8th grade by summer 2013 and are interested in computer science, technology, engineering, or math, you're eligible to apply for G2CS. You'll need to fill out an application and ask a teacher to write a recommendation for you. The G2CS admission committee will select 30 girls to participate.
